    The national flag of Guinea-Bissau consists of two equal horizontal bands of yellow (top) and green with a vertical red band on the hoist side. A black five-pointed star is centered in the red band.

    Guinea-Bissau flag history and facts
    The flag of Guinea-Bissau was adopted in 1973 when independence from Portugal was proclaimed. It is based on the flag of the Partido Africano para a Independencia da Guine e Cabo Verde (PAIGC), a political party in Guinea-Bissau. The national flag of Ghana was an inspiration for the party flag.
